Brookdale House is registered for 22 residents and offers both single and companion room accommodation for ladies, gentlemen and couples. The Home offers long term, respite and day care not only for the elderly but also specialises in people suffering with all forms of dementia.

There are various sizes of single bedrooms, most of them with en-suite facilities. We also have twin bedrooms which are spacious, en-suite and provide for couples and companionship, which can, in some cases,  benefit an individuals needs.  

All rooms are fully furnished and tastefully decorated. Every room becomes an extension of that individual resident. With this in mind, residents are encouraged to bring their personal items including furniture if they so wish. In addition there are assisted bathrooms with hoists and salon hair washing facilities.

There are three separate lounge areas all with a different character as well as a quiet room and there is a sense of freedom within the home. The friendly atmosphere of the home and the attention of our trained staff allows our residents to choose their pace of life.

Meal times are enjoyed in the large dining room where menus are varied. Quality foods with good home cooking being the order of the day,  and plenty of it. Residents may enjoy meals in their room if they so wish. The kitchen is also open  for snacks at any time day or night. 

Our award winning cook knows individuals' likes and dislikes and will also prepare meals for any special tastes or diets.  Our cook is renowned for the wonderful wafts  of home made baking permeating from the kitchen!

Brookdale House prides itself in the highest level of Food and Hygiene Rating that can be achieved. Only the best quality of food is used in our kitchen and we strive to use local products.

As well as a patio where residents enjoy outdoor dining and relaxing there is also a large mature garden.  Residents who have enjoyed a hobby of gardening are encouraged to continue with this interest with their own section of the garden.

The main garden is big enough to provide private safe areas. Specially laid paths allow residents the freedom to take a long or short walk, and on the way stop a in our unique 'folly' for afternoon tea or to sit with family and while away the day.

We regularly have in-house entertainment. Anything from arts and crafts to live entertainment ranging from the good old days to The Beatles and any special music that brings back happy memories. 

Residents individual life interests, hobbies and abilities are expanded upon both within small groups and on a one to one basis.

Brookdale House has achieved exceptionally high standards of care due to our total commitment to continual training for ALL staff. This commitment to training means that all our residents and their families can be sure that they are being looked after by professionally trained and extremely caring staff.

Training is not only in all aspects of care but also in Fire Safety, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Safe Guarding, Personal Development and Health & Safety.

All our staff are passionate about the care we offer at Brookdale House, this goes hand in hand with the 24 hour a day care on which we pride ourselves along with a philosophy of enjoyment, fun and laughter.

Alternatively residents may choose their pace and do whatever they feel comfortable with, after all it is their home, and just like their home, family and friends are welcome at any reasonable time to visit – the kettle is always on...

Brookdale House care home activities


Activities play an important part of care at Brookdale House and we alternate different activities on a weekly basis, including exercise sessions, poetry, sing-a-longs, music, fashion, shows, theatre outings plus lots more.

A hairdresser also attends each week and there are frequent visits by Chiropodist, Dentist, Optician, Clergy and Library Services.
